Onboarding
How long does onboarding take?
A complete file can move from first review to go-live in about two weeks. The bottleneck is almost always documents, which is why we list them before you start.
What documents do I need?
Corporate registration, ownership structure and UBO identity, processing history for the last three to six months, a corporate bank account, your live website, and the licenses specific to your vertical. Each industry page lists the exact set.
Do you accept new businesses with no processing history?
Yes, when the model is sound. Without history, the offer usually includes a lower cap and a higher reserve that are reviewed after a few months of clean processing.
Is the review really free?
Yes. Underwriting review and the written offer cost you nothing. Fees start when you accept.
Accounts & reserves
What is a rolling reserve and how does it work?
A percentage of each batch is held against future chargebacks, then released on a rolling schedule, typically after the dispute window closes. The full guide on reserves is in the Guides section.
Can my account be closed without warning?
Mainstream processors do that. Our model is different: you see your ratios, you receive warnings, and account actions follow a written process. Sudden closures are what this company was built against.
What happens to held funds if something goes wrong?
Reserves are released according to the schedule in your offer. They are your funds, held against chargeback exposure, and the release schedule is written down before you sign.
Compliance
Do I need a license for my vertical?
For licensed verticals like gaming and pharmacy, yes, or proof the application is in progress. The industry pages list the licenses acquirers expect, per jurisdiction.
What is PCI DSS and do I need to comply?
PCI DSS is the card industry's data security standard. Our infrastructure is Level 1 compliant. Your side of compliance, typically an SAQ, depends on how you integrate.
Is OpenGate a payment service provider?
No. OpenGate is a payment gateway. We do not sell licenses, legal documents or marketing. We tell you which documents the acquirers expect, and we review your funnel during underwriting.
Payments & disputes
What happens when I get a chargeback?
You receive the dispute with its reason code and a deadline. The representment toolkit assembles the evidence and files the response. You can refund instead when the evidence is weak. The full process is in the chargeback guide.
Why is my chargeback ratio important?
Visa and Mastercard monitor dispute ratios per merchant. Sustained ratios above their thresholds put your account in a monitoring program, which can end in termination. Keeping the ratio low is the single most important job of a high-risk operation.
Can customers pay with crypto?
Crypto settlement and stablecoin payouts are available where the model and jurisdiction allow. Card payments can coexist with crypto options through the same integration.
Which countries can my customers come from?
It depends on your acquirer placement and licenses. The offer defines the allowed markets, currencies and settlement options explicitly.
