Why mainstream PSPs refuse e-liquids and vapes

Vaping sits at the intersection of age-restricted retail and regulated nicotine. Card processors refuse the sector over one question they cannot verify themselves: whether the buyer is an adult and the shipment is lawful.

Can I use Stripe or PayPal for a vape shop?

Only with conditions. Stripe lists e-cigarettes and e-liquid as a restricted category and, in the US, limits it to FDA-authorized products, while PayPal requires pre-approval. Accounts that slip through are often closed without warning. OpenGate underwrites the compliance file and places it with acquirers that accept the vertical.

Can I run a vape juice subscription?

Yes. Refill subscriptions are underwritten like any continuity model: consent capture, renewal disclosure and a working cancellation flow, with card-on-file billing.
